Jane's Addiction
Led by charismatic, idiosycratic frontman Perry Farrell, Jane's Addiction burst onto the LA club scene in the late
'80s with a furiously direct, pre-grunge sound that was in stark
contrast to both the hair-metal mainstream and the shoegazer alternative
rock popular at the time. Farrell's effects-laden vocal
style jibed perfectly with lyrics that probed dark themes, all set to a
Zeppelin-esque guitar and drums barrage by Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins and original bassist Eric Avery. Farrell and Navarro are pictured here on stage with Jane's Addiction, October 23rd, 2001 in St. Paul.
