Alejandro Escovedo with Eric Heywood
Growing up in a home full of musicians, including two percussionists for
Santana, helped shape the music of Alejandro Escovedo – part country,
part rock and roll, part punk. Alejandro began his music career with stints in the Nuns, Rank and File and True Believers.
Blending honesty with his unusually
compelling instrumentation and gorgeous melodies creates his signature
sound.
Gravity, a solo album utilizing his wide variety
of styles was released in 1992.
After 1996's With These Hands, he also began
recording with the group Buick MacKane.
In 2001, A Man Under the Influence, produced by Chris Stamey, was released to universal accolades.
Alejandro is pictured here with multi-instrumentalist Eric Heywood at the now defunct Garage D'or record store in Minneapolis in the summer of 2000.
